History
HOTEL PETROGRAD
In 1895, on the same spot where the Back in 1895, on the very site where Belgrade City Hotel stands today, Hotel Petrograd was established to welcome passengers arriving at the newly opened Main Railway Station. As Belgrade grew and the legendary Orient Express began passing through the city, the modest building gave way to a grand Neo-Renaissance palace in 1912, designed by renowned Serbian architect Petar Popović. Today, this historic building is recognized as a protected cultural monument – a timeless symbol of Belgrade’s architectural and urban heritage.
