Grad Hotel Petrograd

Grand Hotel Petrograd, one of the most prestigious hotel in Belgrade between two World Wars.

Hotel’s tradition goes all the way back to 1895, when the first » Hotel Petrograd« opened in the modest building on the same location. In 1912, however, the new and prestigious building, designed by famous Serbian architect Petar Popovic, has been built. That building still stands, with some minor alterations, and it’s listed as a protected cultural monument. The spirit of old times, romance and high-class glamour can still be easily felt in every corner of the building, that is now a modern four-star hotel that offers all the comfort, facilities and service you would expect.

Plans for the future

Digital visualisation showing the future outlook of Belgrade Waterfront urban redevelopment project

Belgrade City Hotel overlooks Savski trg (The Sava Square), which will soon become the new center of Belgrade. When major redevelopment completes (which is expected around mid-2020), a monument to Stefan Nemanja, the founder of the first Serbian dynasty, will be unveiled in its center, while the building of the former main train station will house a museum dedicated to Serbian history. The square itself will become a mostly pedestrian zone, with lots of green space, bike paths and easy access to the river.
